My fascination towards books started in second year of PUC(+2). When i was in school there was nothing called library. I only had access to my dads office library which has no recent books. The only books that were available in there were some old Tamil novel and computer books. I read my first novel after hearing a lot about the writer sujatha. If I remember correctly my first novel is called “iyanthiramanithan”. Then I went on to read one more book of the same author ,his other books were always busy in circulation and since i am not a member there i was not given any preference for those books.
After joining the college, first year was very busy without any interest in anything, I bought Abdul kalam’s autobiography “agni siragukal” ,but did not read it completely yet. Then later part of second year my reading was only in field of computer science, virtually i had read most of the things students used to in computer science subject. My both library card were always full and at times i lend books out from my friends library card. After i joined in the job, i had few of the things i need to do ,when i get my salary ,one of it was to buy good books at regular intervals. I know i will not read all of them ,but still i wanted to buy and keep. I sure know that i will study them all one day.
After that it has been constant buying and reading, i bought books with varying subjects , right from philosophy, romance, spiritual, thriller, etcetera etcetera. I counted the no of books i have in my shelf now and i find that there are around 32. This does not include the computer science and other college books. Out of this 32 i have completely read only 4 books, all other books i have read at least 10-20 pages in each. I have never found any of it boring ,but just that its my habit. I am amazed at the no of books i see in landmark whenever i enter into it. Its kind of keeps telling myself that how little we know and hoe much is out there to learn about. May be that is my never ending quest to attain the knowledge, infinity.
My latest reading is Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder, its about philosophy,i have crossed more than 70 pages which clearly indicates i have read more than my usual limit.Let me see if i can finish things off with this book.
I have few books in my mind that i should buy in future. I have listed the books that i have already with me. Please leave a comment on the book that you would like me to read or you liked.
